Guest artist Lara Downes (piano) joins faculty performers Diane Reich (voice), Scott Holden (piano), and Benjamin Nichols (saxophone) as well as several BYU ensembles in a diverse opening concert to the Barlow Endowment for Music Composition 40th Anniversary Celebration. The concert will include the new song cycle by 2020 Barlow Prize winner Christopher Trapani, the Barlow-commissioned and Ellington-inspired piece Long Time Coming by David Sanford, and a world premiere of a new piece by BYU faculty composer Kevin Anthony, written on the occasion of this celebration. The evening will also feature compositions by BYU faculty, including Christian Asplund’s Barlow-commissioned work for himself as viola soloist and Gamelan Bintang Wahyu, and a chamber ensemble piece by Stephen Jones.
